So every now and then I hear something like this:
I think the one thing missing from pastie is either a paste expiry date or a way for the author to delete the paste when it's no longer needed.
Pastie doesn't have expiration dates on purpose. Pastes are forever. Why? Because I think it's way too fucking cool that this still works:
http://pastie.org/1 (my first test paste in June 2006)
Now, you don't have to share my philosophy. If you know your paste has a short shelf life or isn't relevant to the net at large, just paste it privately. Pastie has supported this for a long time now (and it seems quite popular).
I've also heard rumors there are other paste sites. :-)
Sorry, there is no pastie #8 or it has expired. Why not create a new pastie?
=)

Sometimes pastes are abusive and are removed. Also there is a very low threshold where the system decides _no one_ has ever looked at a paste in so many months, so it must not be of any value to anyone - and it is removed.
But generally any paste that gets more than just a few hits in a few months is retained forever.

Just a quick bug:
Multi-line PHP comments don't seem to be highlighted/coloured correctly. It only comments the first line.
